Soft Rains has announced that Ambrosia Sky’s story will wrap up in one free update, marking a departure from its initial plan for two more paid chapters. The decision reflects a stronger emphasis on narrative cohesion and player investment, particularly around the protagonist Dalia’s journey.

The game follows Dalia, a spacefaring researcher, as she investigates the fungus-overrun ruins of her former home station, The Cluster. Act One introduced players to this world, blending immersive simulation mechanics with a deeply emotional narrative. The developer now intends to deliver a more focused conclusion in Act Two, ensuring that the story’s momentum remains intact without unnecessary delays.

Act Two will resolve key questions from Act One while introducing new mission locations and exo-fungus challenges. A revised progression system is also expected, featuring fresh upgrades that enhance gameplay. This approach allows Soft Rains to refine the experience based on player feedback, particularly regarding Dalia’s emotional arc and her relationship with Maeve.

The developer’s shift in strategy highlights a broader trend in narrative-driven games—balancing episodic development with player engagement. By condensing the story, Soft Rains aims to maximize the aspects of Ambrosia Sky that resonated most with audiences, including its unique blend of exploration and emotional storytelling.

Act One is available now, and Act Two will be released as a free update for existing players later this year. Newcomers purchasing the full experience after launch will see the price increase from $15 to $25, reflecting the expanded content.
