Friday, February 6th 2026 Linux PCs Get Native NVIDIA GeForce NOW Support by TheLostSwede Today, 09:18 Discuss (2 ) NVIDIA has announced a beta version of its GeForce NOW app for Linux, although the app appears to be limited to Ubuntu 24.04 for now, which means only a small fraction of Linux users will be able to test the beta version. NVIDIA promises the similar features as it delivers in Windows, which means up to 5K resolution at 120 FPS, or 1080p at up to 360 FPS, if you to the Ultimate tier. Note that NVIDIA claims up to 240 FPS in Windows at 5K resolution, but doesn't go into any details as to why Linux users will be limited to 120 FPS. NVIDIA recommends a 65 Mbps internet connection for gaming at 5K 120 FPS and a latency of under 40 ms to its data centres. We've added a list of feature limitations below, some of which are Linux OS limitations, whereas others appears to be things that haven't been implemented by NVIDIA as yet. Note that your system still needs a fairly recent GPU to take advantage of the RTX 5080 performance tier, which the regular tier doesn't have. The announcement doesn't mention how many games are supported, nor does the FAQ list any information about game support. However, it appears that most games supported under Windows will be supported using Linux and it does of course still require that you own the game in question. At US$20 a month for 100 hours of gaming, NVIDIA is unlikely to win over too many Linux gamers, but it's at least an option for those that want to play unsupported games on their Linux PC. The beta is available to download now.
