AMD Witnesses Gradual CPU Share Increase, Approaching 45% for the First Time As Per May 2026 Steam Hardware Survey Ryzen magic is working for Team Red, and it's not surprising to see AMD as a major chip maker in the mainstream segment. Since the rise of Ryzen CPUs in 2017, AMD has continuously grabbed more and more shares in the client CPU segment, to the point where we see the top 10 best-selling CPUs from Team Red. This was 44% in April and March, but in the last two months, AMD jumped by almost 2% to reach 44.97%, which is probably the highest we have recorded on Steam Hardware Survey. The company is already selling Ryzen 7 9800X3D and other Zen 5-based X3D chips like hotcakes, and keeps releasing more X3D chips in older families, such as Ryzen 7 7700X3D in Zen 4 and AM4 10th Anniversary Ryzen 7 5800X3D for the AM4 platform. These processors usually sit at the top of the best-selling CPUs list at major retailers and help AMD gain incredible revenue. Non-X3D chips also sell pretty well, to the point where no Intel CPU is seen in the top 10 at major retailers. That said, it will still take quite some time for AMD to beat Intel on the Steam charts, as Intel is still at 55% CPU share.
