Gaming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight May Be the First PC Game to Require FrameGen just for 30 FPS Alessio Palumbo • at EDT Add on Google LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, built on Unreal Engine 5, may be the first PC game to require Frame Generation just to hit 30 FPS. We're now just two weeks away from the launch of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and the developers at TT Games have revealed the game's official PC system requirements. Unfortunately, it's not great news. In fact, to our knowledge, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight might very well be the first PC game to require Frame Generation to be enabled as a requirement for the Minimum spec. Related Story ’s Most Anticipated Platformers of 2026 – New Adventures in Familiar WorldsThis is troubling on its own and even more so because the specs mention the game would run at 30 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled. Basically, the developers are using it to boost a game that runs at 15 or 20 FPS to around 30 FPS with FG technology. However, Frame Generation was never designed for this use case. NVIDIA recommends a base framerate of at least 60 FPS before enabling DLSS Frame Generation, as FG works by interpolating between rendered frames; if the base framerate is already low or inconsistent, the interpolated frames introduce latency and artifacts that degrade rather than improve the experience. AMD similarly recommends FSR Frame Generation be used on top of a stable 60 FPS base, and their own documentation warns that using it below that threshold produces noticeable ghosting and input lag. The same goes for Intel's XeSS Frame Generation guidelines. It doesn't help that the game runs on Unreal Engine 5 (the first game in the LEGO series to switch from their proprietary technology), which makes us even more worried about its open world performance. Still, we'll know soon enough, given the launch proximity; the game is out on . Stay tuned.
