Remedy Entertainment has entered a new chapter with the appointment of Jean-Charles Gaudechon as its incoming CEO, marking a shift in leadership following the departure of Tero Virtala last October. Gaudechon brings over two decades of industry experience, most recently serving as a senior executive at OneFootball and Sleeper, and previously holding leadership roles at CCP Games and Electronic Arts.

The studio’s financial health has improved significantly, with fourth-quarter revenue surging 46.3% year-over-year to €17.0 million, driven largely by continued success of Alan Wake 2 and strong sales of the original CONTROL. For the full year 2025, revenue grew 17.5% to €59.5 million, though operating profit remained negative due to non-cash impairments tied to the troubled FBC: Firebreak project. Despite this, operating cash flow stayed positive at €4.5 million.

The Rise of CONTROL Resonant

The focus now turns to CONTROL Resonant, Remedy’s most ambitious game to date, which has already received an enthusiastic reception. Early wishlist numbers and player engagement suggest the sequel is poised to become a standout title in the action-RPG genre. The studio aims to position it as a must-have release, leveraging the momentum built during its December announcement at The Game Awards.

Unlike its predecessor, which was set in a fictionalized New York, CONTROL Resonant shifts the narrative to an open-ended Manhattan, offering a fresh take on the series’ signature blend of supernatural action and psychological intrigue. While no official launch window has been confirmed, the game is expected to arrive later this year.

A Strategic Shift in Leadership

Gaudechon’s appointment signals a deliberate effort to strengthen Remedy’s creative independence while scaling operations sustainably. His background in gaming and sports media suggests a focus on balancing commercial success with the studio’s signature artistic vision. The transition from interim CEO Markus Mäki to Gaudechon will take place on March 1.

Remedy’s ability to execute on high-profile franchises like Alan Wake and CONTROL remains critical, especially after the missteps of FBC: Firebreak. With CONTROL Resonant and potential future projects on the horizon, the studio’s leadership transition could define its next era.
