Intel has rolled out a new beta driver for its Arc GPUs that brings performance improvements and game-specific optimizations, alongside fixes for rendering glitches in popular titles.
The 101.8801 beta version targets three games—Forza Horizon 6, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Subnautica 2—with tweaks aimed at smoother gameplay. It also addresses a long-standing issue where Battlefield 6 could exhibit intermittent screen corruption during certain maps when running on integrated Arc GPUs found in Core Ultra Series 1 (Meteor Lake) and Core Ultra Series 2 (Lunar Lake) processors.
A new feature in this release is the performance metrics overlay, which can be toggled via a hotkey or through the Intel Graphics Software. Users now have access to customizable display options, including automatic game detection, predefined styles, and per-GPU selection. Additionally, the software allows direct bug reporting from within the settings menu, streamlining issue submission for users encountering problems.
Despite these improvements, several known issues persist across different Arc GPU families, particularly in DX12-based titles. Games like Crimson Desert, Apex Legends, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle continue to experience crashes or visual corruption, with some affecting both integrated and discrete Arc models. The driver also notes that PugetBench for DaVinci Resolve Studio may crash intermittently, though this can be mitigated by adjusting benchmark settings.
For users relying on Intel’s integrated graphics solutions, the fixes in this beta could provide a more stable experience, especially in demanding titles where rendering artifacts have been problematic. However, those using dedicated Arc B-Series or A-Series GPUs will still encounter limitations with certain games, suggesting ongoing driver maturation is needed before widespread adoption becomes viable.
