Western Digital has unveiled a refreshed G-DRIVE professional storage lineup designed to address the growing demands of content creators and enterprise users. The new models integrate Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, hardware RAID support, and an e-ink display for drive management, positioning them as versatile tools for high-performance workflows.

The top-tier offering is the G-DRIVE 8, which supports up to 224 TB of storage in an eight-bay configuration. This model is complemented by the four-bay G-DRIVE 4 with a maximum capacity of 80 TB and the dual-bay G-DRIVE 2, which can hold up to 56 TB. All three models feature Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, allowing for daisy-chaining of up to six devices, as well as an e-ink display for labeling and status updates.

For users requiring more compact solutions, Western Digital has included the single-bay G-DRIVE 1, which supports Ultrastar HDDs with capacities up to 28 TB. This model is designed for desktop use and includes a carry handle for portability. Additionally, the G-DRIVE ArmorATD offers a portable option with triple-layer shock resistance and IP54 dust and water protection, supporting up to 6 TB of storage.

The new lineup is expected to hit the market in late 2026 for the entry-level models and early 2027 for the higher-capacity options. This expansion reflects Western Digital's focus on providing scalable, high-performance storage solutions that cater to a range of professional applications, from content creation to enterprise data management.

This move comes as demand for high-bandwidth storage continues to grow, driven by the increasing complexity of digital workflows and the need for reliable, high-density solutions. Western Digital's integration of Thunderbolt 5 and hardware RAID support underscores its commitment to delivering storage that meets the evolving needs of professionals in demanding environments.
