NVIDIA has expanded its GeForce NOW cloud gaming service to deliver 90 FPS streaming at 4K resolution, an upgrade that positions the platform for high-end virtual reality setups. This change is particularly notable for Apple Vision Pro users, whose dual-display system can handle resolutions up to 3,660 × 3,200 pixels and refresh rates of 120 Hz.
The update ensures that Vision Pro owners can experience games at a resolution and frame rate previously reserved for high-performance local setups. While the majority of titles may not natively support 4K at 90 FPS, NVIDIA’s DLSS technology is expected to bridge the gap by enhancing performance through AI-driven upscaling.
Support for 4K 90 FPS streaming is currently exclusive to the Apple Vision Pro. Other VR headsets can access GeForce NOW’s 90 FPS capabilities at lower resolutions, with 1080p available universally and 1440p limited to Pico and Meta Quest devices. The premium tier, known as the Ultimate package, grants access to these features across multiple platforms.
In addition to gaming improvements, NVIDIA has announced plans to integrate H.265 video decoding support into browsers. This enhancement aims to optimize streaming efficiency and visual quality, further refining the experience for users relying on cloud-based gaming solutions.
The move reflects a broader trend in which cloud gaming services are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with remote rendering. For creators and enthusiasts invested in high-refresh VR setups, this update could redefine expectations for smoothness and visual fidelity—though whether it will translate to widespread adoption remains an open question.
