Keychron is expanding its low-profile lineup with two new wireless keyboards designed to appeal to both competitive gamers and enthusiasts who demand tactile feedback. The K3 HE and K3 Ultra arrive February 12, each offering a distinct approach to input precision—one through adjustable magnetic switches, the other through blistering response times.

The K3 HE continues Keychron’s hall effect magnetic switch tradition, first introduced in the K2 HE. These switches allow users to tweak actuation points, trigger/reset behavior, and even configure analog inputs or multi-actions. Unlike earlier models, the K3 HE will support third-party low-profile hall effect switches, including Gateron Magnetic Jade Pro and TTC KOM, avoiding a closed ecosystem.

In contrast, the K3 Ultra leans into raw performance with pre-lubed low-profile Milk POM switches and an industry-leading 8,000 Hz polling rate. That translates to input latency as low as 0.125 milliseconds—a critical advantage in fast-paced gaming scenarios where every millisecond counts. Both models run on ZMK firmware and deliver up to 550 hours of battery life in 2.4 GHz wireless mode.

Design-wise, both keyboards feature an ABS bottom case paired with metal and wood framing, reminiscent of Keychron’s earlier HE Special Edition models. Availability is limited to black and white finishes, with early access requiring a $3 reservation fee. Pricing remains undisclosed.

Key specs

  • K3 HE: Low-profile hall effect magnetic switches (adjustable actuation), third-party compatibility (Gateron Magnetic Jade Pro, TTC KOM), ZMK firmware.
  • K3 Ultra: Pre-lubed low-profile Milk POM switches, 8,000 Hz polling rate (0.125 ms latency), ZMK firmware.
  • Shared: 2.4 GHz wireless, up to 550 hours battery life, ABS + metal/wood frame, black/white color options.

The K3 HE is tailored for users who prioritize customization and tactile feedback, while the K3 Ultra caters to gamers chasing the absolute fastest response times. Both keyboards emphasize portability without sacrificing performance, making them ideal for competitive setups or on-the-go typing.

Keychron’s move to support third-party switches in the K3 HE marks a shift from its earlier proprietary approach, potentially broadening appeal among enthusiasts who prefer interchangeable components. Meanwhile, the K3 Ultra’s polling rate and pre-lubed switches position it as a high-end alternative to dedicated gaming keyboards.

Availability begins February 12, with pricing to be confirmed at launch.
